When does a search count against my quota?

Only when new results come back: a live execution that completes counts once. Re-opening an identical recent search is free, and a search that fails is refunded automatically — you never pay for an empty or broken result.

Is my plan decided by the browser?

Never. Your plan is resolved on the server at every request, from either a Stripe subscription confirmed by a signature-verified webhook event or the configured default. Forging a browser flag grants nothing.

What happens at the end of a period?

Cancellations keep Pro until the paid period runs out; payment failures move the subscription into Stripe's past-due state and enforcement follows that state. Everything refreshes automatically around the first of the month.
